The picture of Delia with two fishes on her back has inspired more blatant plagiarism than any of Sam's other photographs. Some "Lens men" felt compelled to take themselves off to the original location and to buy identical fish in order to make a copy. Goodness knows why.

Delia was photographed on a Mahe beach in 1972. The idea originated with the two fish bought from a local fisherman. The final image evolved from earlier trial shots in the Huckleberry Finn manner (Two fishes on a stick over the shoulder). Homage a Mark Twain !
