November Girl

November Girl (1967) was the hotly anticipated title from Sam Haskins after the critical and commercial success of Kate three years earlier. While publishers pushed the author for a 'sequel' to Cowboy Kate, Sam went in a different direction with a single theme of a girl lamenting her lost love.
Using the thematic framework of loss and heartbreak to further explore the creative photography that was so resonantly defined in the two preceding titles (Five Girls - 1962 & Cowboy Kate & Other Stories - 1964) November Girl delivers finely crafted photography and tender empathic images infused with beauty and humanity.

The prints on offer here are contemporary open edition estate prints produced in-house by the Sam Haskins Estate. For a detailed size, price and technical guide please download our one page PDF.

“Seldom if ever has a female nude been treated with such photographic sensitivity. A beautiful large-format book by a master in his field.”

— Modern Photography (USA) Volume 32, 1968

“Rarement un livre de photo- s graphies a su rendre avec autant d'habileté le stream of consciousness d'un être humain, suggérant que c'est de l'amour que dépend l'existence.

Rarely has a book of photographs been able to render with so much skill the stream of consciousness of a human being, suggesting that existence depends on love.”

— Allesandro Bertolotti writing in Livres de Nus, 2008
